Province Joins National Cell Phone Recycling Program

Today the Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, and Mike Samson, Interim Chair and CEO of the MMSB, where joined today by Bernard Lord, President and CEO of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) to announce a partnership aimed at making it easier to recycle old cell phones.
 
In conjunction with the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA), a Recycle My Cell program is being launched in the province offering cell phone users a chance to recycle and properly dispose of old cell phones.
 
The CWTA's national program allows users to find out where and how to properly dispose of cell phones and other wireless devices, regardless of the carrier, brand or condition.

Environmental leadership in Newfoundland and Labrador was highlighted today when the Newfoundland and Labrador 20th Annual Environmental Awards were presented by the Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation; Mike Samson, Interim Chair and CEO, Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB); and Barbara Taylor, President, Newfoundland and Labrador Women’s Institutes.

May 31st to June 6th is Environment Week and MMSB is busy helping to educate our province on how to cut down on waste. 
 
MMSB goes to School this Evironment Week - The MMSB waste reduction team is visitng schools during Environment Week to educate schools about the things they can do to reduce the amount of waste they generate.

June 3rd at St. Kevin's High School, Goulds, NL
